>> What is a registered agent?
Most states require a corporation or LLC to have a registered agent. Registered agents are typically required to be available during certain business hours to receive any legal or governmental correspondence and then forward the information appropriately. Basically, a registered agent does not do much but in the event that they are needed to accept "service of process" then they need to fulfill their responsibilities in a timely manner or the consequences could be severe. This is one of the main reasons why you might want to consider hiring a professional registered agent.
